At Unmute, our mission is to assess and spotlight the current extent of abuse and hostility in the Indian workplace and to develop tools aimed at preventing gender-based violence. This Privacy Policy outlines our methods for collecting, using, securing, and sharing the information gathered through our initiatives

Data Collection and Use

Unmute collects data exclusively through surveys powered by Supabase for secure cloud hosting. We focus exclusively on collecting non-identifiable data concerning workplace experiences from adult participants within India. No personally identifiable information (PII) such as names, phone numbers, or addresses is collected.

Purpose of Data Collection

The data collected is used exclusively for the following purposes:

  • To assess the quantum of abuse/hostility in the workplace across various industries in India.
  • To develop and refine tools and methodologies for preventing gender-based violence.
  • To generate aggregated reports that help in understanding and addressing the patterns of abuse.

Non-Identifiable Data Collection

To protect anonymity and ensure the privacy of our respondents:

  • All data collected is non-traceable and cannot be linked back to any individual.
  • Typeform, our data collection platform, does not release IP addresses or any other data that
  • could be used to identify respondents.

Data Storage and Security

  • Supabase: Both platforms adhere to high standards such as GDPR, CCPA, and ISO/IEC 27001, ensuring rigorous data protection and security.
  • Local Processing: Once data is collected, it is processed on local computers within India, allowing us to conduct detailed analysis while maintaining the highest data integrity and security levels.
  • Security Measures: We implement robust physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the data we collect.

Ensuring Anonymity

The data we collect in a stored in a secure cloud environment. We intentionally avoid collecting IP addresses or any personally identifiable information, keeping your responses anonymous.

  • We use google analytics to track the number of unique visitors to our website.
  • We provide assurances that responses cannot be used to trace back to any individual, directly or indirectly.

Data Retention

The Data is retained for a period of 90 days, during which we ensure that the data is anonymous, and used thereafter.

We ensure that the data cannot be traced back to any individual directly.

Participant Rights

Participants have the right to inquire about and request the deletion of their data.

Since we do not collect any personally identifiable information, we cannot delete any stories submitted by participants. We can however delete your email address from our database if you've reached out to us via email.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

Unmute reserves the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
